Now make a difference at your workplace: Be Green Conscious!

As our world and economy change rapidly, organizations have begun to realize that we’re at a crossroads: Unsustainable practices are no longer sustainable.

Many of us take time at home to break down our cardboard boxes and put our aluminum and glass in the blue recycling bins. But how about at work?

Reduce paper usage: A paperless office is a beautiful thing. Do you really need to print a rough draft of that report, or can you look at it onscreen? Are you really going to print out all your email before you read it?

Reuse cups, plates and utensils: Investing in cheap, washable supplies for your office kitchen means putting a lot less into our landfills. Stop the wasteful use of paper cups and plastic forks that wind up polluting the oceans and coming back to us in our fish.

Recycle all materials that can be recycledincluding technology: Companies like Technology Recycling (techrecycle.com), in Colorado, take your used fax machines, computers, copiers and cell phones and dismantle them. Not only are you contributing to greening your operation, but you’re protecting proprietary data from getting into the wrong hands.

Transportation is the low-hanging fruit in making your organization more sustainable, from simple solutions (e.g., rewarding those who carpool or ride their bikes to work) can be implemented.

Make sure computers and other office equipment are turned off when not being used. A single computer generates as much heat as a 100 w light bulb running all the time.
